Yes, it is true! The Greek word is “Ιάκωβος” (Iakōbos) and has the same root as “Ιακώβ” (Iakōb, and is pronounced “ee-ak-obe’”). This root word comes from the Hebrew origin for “יעקב” (ya׳aqōb, pronounced “yah-ak-obe’”). This Hebrew root is the same word used for the Israelite patriarch Jacob. Thus, the English pronunciation would be Jacob (more correctly “Ya’aqob”) but never James. So then, you see, the book of James and the apostle James (the son of Zebedee), are entirely incorrect. Yet, the non-Hebrew name James has been used in nearly all the English translation. The mistranslation of the name Jacob does not distort the message of Yahuwah’s Book. HOWEVER, there are many inaccurate words in nearly all English Translations which do distort the Truth of Yahuwah’s Book. It is of grave importance that we use an accurate translation of Yahuwah’s Hebrew and Greek Book—for we cannot afford to be misled concerning Yahuwah’s Word, particularly His Salvation Gospel and entry requirements into Heaven. This is of life and death importance! EliYahuwah and I have translated over 3,100 verses in Yahuwah’s Book.
